Kirby Lee-USA TODAY SportsHe’s ours, for another 4 years. Brett Kern signed an extension with the Titans, keeping him here for the long haul. Brett is a great guy, and I couldn’t be happier that he’s here for a while. Chad Reuter has the Titans selecting TJ Hockenson with the 19th pick in the draft. This is a situation I’m very much rooting for, because Trevor will be in charge of the MCM twitter handle for a week if that happens. NFL.com says the Titans need WR, DE, and Guard. I’d add EDGE over DE, but both are needed. Check out some players who may be set up for some really nice pay days in a few days. The Titans need to look to the future in their RB room, potentially adding a RB in the draft. Derrick Henry is obviously the guy right now, but adding a guy to push Dion is best. The playoff picture in the AFC remains muddy with six teams realistically in the mix for two playoff spots. Those six teams are the Steelers (7-5-1), Ravens (7-6) Ryan Tannehill Jersey White , Colts (7-6), Dolphins (7-6), Titans (7-6), and Broncos (6-7). Either the Steelers or the Ravens will almost certainly win the AFC North (barring a miracle run from the Browns) while the other four teams are left to compete with the AFC North runner up for the final AFC wildcard spot. The main focus for the Titans, of course, will be getting a third straight win against the Giants in New York, but there are several other games that will have a major impact on the AFC playoff race. Each of those games is listed below in chronological order along with a proprietary grading scale to score the importance of each matchup to the Titans playoff hopes:5 Derrick Henry Stiff Arms = Must-have game, Titans cannot advance without this game breaking the right way.4 Derrick Henry Stiff Arms = Nearly must-have game, Titans need a near miracle to get in if this happens.3 Derrick Henry Stiff Arms = Pretty important, but there are still realistic routes to the playoffs available if it goes the wrong way.2 Derrick Henry Stiff Arms = Would be nice to have it, but it’s not that big of a deal.1 Derrick Henry Stiff Arm = Doesn’t really matter which way this game goes.Chargers at ChiefsTime: Thursday at 7:20 PM CSTLine: Chiefs -3.5Derrick Henry Stiff Arms: 1This game has the least impact on the Titans playoff odds. In fact, it really doesn’t impact their odds directly at all. The Chargers already have 10 wins and the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Titans so they’re officially out of reach at this point. The Titans would likely prefer for the Chargers to win this AFC West division matchup though. At 10-3, the Chargers have the 5 seed virtually locked up, but they still have games against the Ravens and Broncos in Weeks 16 and 17 and those are two opponents that the Titans would like to see the Chargers beat. If the Chargers were to lose to the Chiefs tonight, Kansas City would clinch the AFC West and the Chargers could theoretically be locked in to the 5 seed as early as this weekend — depending on the results of other games — leaving them little reason to make a big effort in their final two games.Texans at JetsTime: Saturday at 3:30 PM CSTLine: Texans -6.5Derrick Henry Stiff Arms: 3I know some are already handing the division title to the Texans, but as long as there is still a chance for a home playoff game I’m going to root for it. The Texans are very clearly the better of these two teams, but road games in the NFL are never truly a sure thing (just ask the Steelers). The Jets are still trying to win games. They very nearly beat the Titans on the road two weeks ago and then came from behind to beat the Bills in Buffalo last week. While I would certainly be surprised if they pulled off the upset, it’s not outside the realm of possibility with the Texans traveling on a short week.Should the Texans falter in this one, it would truly open the AFC South back up. The Titans would be able to move to within one game of Houston with a win over the Giants and would hold the tiebreaker for the division crown if both teams finish 10-6. Here is the tiebreaker process for ties within a division:Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs). 1-1 (tie)Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division. Titans 4-2 Tajae Sharpe Jersey White , Texans either 4-2 or 3-3 depending on if they lose to the Jaguars (tie or Titans win)Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games. Titans 9-3, Texans 7-5 (Titans win)The Texans finish at the Eagles (who just lost Carson Wentz for the season) and then at home against the Jaguars so it’s still hard to see this happening, but a Jets win this weekend would at least put the heat on.Browns at BroncosTime: Saturday at 7:20 PM CSTLine: Broncos -4.5Derrick Henry Stiff Arms: 2The Titans already control their own destiny against the Broncos thanks to the 49ers upset win over Denver last week so this game only matters if Tennessee loses again. However, Titans fans should still be rooting for the Browns to win this one to help keep the dream of a possible 9-7 playoff spot alive. After the Browns, Denver plays at Oakland and then home against the Chargers to round out the season. Cowboys at ColtsTime: Sunday at 12:00 PM CSTLine: Colts -2.5Derrick Henry Stiff Arms: 3The Titans also control their own destiny against the Colts thanks to their Week 17 matchup in Nashville, but fans should still be rooting for the Cowboys to win this game. If the Colts lose to the Cowboys and Giants over the next two weeks while the Titans beat the Giants and Redskins, the Week 17 game would be meaningless for Indianapolis. It could even contribute to a scenario where the Titans have clinched a playoff spot before that game even kicks off. It’s an unlikely scenario, but a Dallas win would keep the possibility alive for another week. Buccaneers at RavensTime: Sunday at 12:00 PM CSTLine: Ravens -6.0Derrick Henry Stiff Arms: 3The Titans only need two things to control their own destiny from this point forward: a Dolphins loss and either a Ravens loss or a Steelers loss. This game represents a chance to check off one of those items. The Bucs are a deeply flawed team, but they can be explosive on offense from time to time and the Ravens largely rely on a ball control offense to grind out their opponents. If Tampa Bay can jump out early, they could have a chance in this game. After this game, the Ravens will travel to LA to play the Chargers in Week 16 before returning home to face the Browns in the final week of the season. Those are both tough matchups so Baltimore doesn’t necessarily have to lose this game, but it would be a very nice bonus if they did.Dolphins at VikingsTime: Sunday at 12:00 PM CSTLine: Vikings -8.0Derrick Henry Stiff Arms: 4This is the most important game of the weekend for the Titans besides their own. Miami’s miracle against the Patriots kept them even with the Titans at 7-6 in the race for the 6 seed, but of course they own the tiebreaker thanks to their Week 1 head-to-head win. This trip to Minnesota is easily the Dolphins toughest remaining game. After this one, they return back home to host the Jaguars and then travel to Buffalo for Week 17. If Miami somehow pulls off a win against the Vikings, Tennessee will be left relying on a pretty significant upset to jump them in the standings. Patriots at SteelersTime: Sunday at 3:25 PM CSTLine: Patriots -1.0Derrick Henry Stiff Arms: 3As mentioned above, the Titans just need the Dolphins and either the Ravens or Steelers to lose one more game to be able to control their own destiny. The Steelers schedule might make them the more likely of the two AFC North teams to drop a game. They host the Patriots this weekend in a matchup that New England has dominated recently. The Pats have won 5 straight and 9 of the last 11 against Pittsburgh including playoff games. If the Titans take care of business and the Patriots make it 6 straight, the Titans would jump the Steelers in the wildcard standings. The Steelers visit the Saints in Week 16 before returning home to face the Bengals in Week 17 after this one so there is still a chance the Titans get some help even if Pittsburgh pulls out a rare win against the Patriots.

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — The status of Tampa Bay’s Jason Pierre-Paul for the upcoming season is uncertain following a single-car accident last week near his home in South Florida. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers said Tuesday that the club’s medical staff is conducting a “thorough evaluation” of the star defensive end, who was treated and released from a hospital after a single-car crash on May 2.ESPN reported that Pierre-Paul, obtained from the New York Giants in a trade in 2018, may have suffered a neck fracture that could sideline him all of next season.“As we stated last week following the news of Jason’s auto accident, our immediate concern was for both Jason and his passenger,” Bucs general manager Jason Licht said in a statement.“While Jason was treated and released in South Florida the same day of the accident, we wanted to ensure that our medical team had an opportunity to perform a thorough evaluation here in Tampa, and that process is currently ongoing,” Licht added.Pierre-Paul, who was not cited in the crash, had 12½ sacks last season to become the first Tampa Bay player to have 10 or more in a season since Simeon Rice in 2005.It was also the most sacks the 10th-year pro has had in a season since suffering a serious hand injury in a July 4 fireworks accident in 2015.

RENTON http://www.seahawkslockerroom.com/authentic-rasheem-green-jersey , Wash. (AP) — Of all the characters to make their way through Seattle in the past decade, none seemed to personify what coach Pete Carroll was seeking more than Doug Baldwin and Kam Chancellor. One on offense. One on defense. Both overlooked and underappreciated coming out of college. Both exhibiting exactly the kind of determination and perseverance Carroll wanted from his Seahawks. Now the two players who at one time starred on consecutive NFC championship teams are saying goodbye to Seattle at the same time. Both players’ contracts were terminated Thursday after each failed a physical. For Chancellor, it was an expected procedural step following the neck injury that ended his career in November 2017.For Baldwin, it was another sign that he could be facing retirement.“The Seahawks have made the difficult decision to terminate/failed physical Doug Baldwin and Kam Chancellor,” general manager John Schneider said in a statement. “These are two of the most iconic players in franchise history and both were instrumental in establishing our championship culture, great examples of competitiveness and leadership on the field and in the community. These legendary players will always be a part of our Seahawks family.”Baldwin’s failed physical is the latest sign his career could be over. Baldwin had surgery in the offseason to repair shoulder and groin injuries and he also had a knee procedure. Carroll and Schneider have both said recently that it would be a challenge for Baldwin to recover from the surgeries and that he was contemplating retirement.Baldwin was an undrafted free agent who became a star. He had 50 receptions for 618 yards and five touchdowns last season although he was hampered by injuries. He missed a large chunk of training camp last season due to a knee injury, two games in September with a separate knee injury Nazair Jones Jersey Green , and he played through groin and hip issues. He is a two-time Pro Bowl selection who has twice topped 1,000 yards receiving. He led the NFL with 14 touchdown catches in 2015 and a year later had a career-high 94 catches. Baldwin started 76 of the past 77 games for the Seahawks dating to 2014 and has been the most trusted pass catcher for Russell Wilson during their time together. He may not have had the most memorable catches of Seattle’s championship run, but he was usually the one coming through when the team needed a big play.Baldwin has also been an outspoken advocate for social justice and called for bail reform and police de-escalation training.“You go through the process of feeling immortal when you’re younger. I think we all go through that process,” Baldwin said in December. “And then kind of contemplating where you take this and then things start to change and priorities outside of football change and life changes and you start to think about things in a bigger picture when football is such a small sliver on your lifetime.”Chancellor declared last July in a social media post that it was “time for a new chapter” after scans on his injured neck showed no improvement. Chancellor said in the post that doctors had told him paralysis was a possibility. He remained on Seattle’s roster last season for salary purposes and was on the physically unable to perform list but not expected to play again following the injury. He signed an extension through the 2020 season in August 2017 which contained guaranteed money in case of injury.Chancellor was named to four Pro Bowl teams (2011, 2013-15) and was twice a second-team All-Pro selection (2013, 2014). He appeared in 109 career games for Seattle with 93 starts after being selected in the fifth-round of the 2010 NFL draft.NOTES: The release of Chancellor and Baldwin opened roster spots for Seattle to sign veteran CB Jamar Taylor, along with FB Nick Bellore and G Marcus Martin. Seattle will be the fifth team for Taylor Womens Barkevious Mingo Jersey , who had previous stops in Miami, Cleveland, Arizona and Denver. Taylor started 29 games over two seasons in Cleveland in 2016 and 2017 and will likely be in the mix for the nickel cornerback job after Justin Coleman left during free agency. Bellore was a linebacker for most of his career before making the switch to fullback with Detroit in 2017. Martin spent last season on injured reserve and has previous stops in San Francisco, Cleveland and Dallas. The Seattle Seahawks lost a safety for the rest of the season on Sunday when Earl Thomas suffered a lower leg fracture, and while nobody can replace his impact on the defense, somebody has to take his spot on the 53-man roster. That somebody may be former second round pick T.J. Green, who tweeted “I’m back” and asked where the food was at in Seattle.Green was released from the Indianapolis Colts’ injured reserve with a settlement on September 6. That news came after just two seasons with the Colts Delano Hill Jersey , in which Green tallied 85 tackles over 31 games and 11 starts. I can’t speak to Green’s individual accomplishments in Indianapolis, but their pass defense finished 32nd in net yards per pass attempt allowed.Green was a two-star recruit out of Alabama who went to Clemson as a wide receiver prospect. The team moved him to safety after his freshman campaign and it paid off for the Tigers as he was second on the team in tackles (95) on their way to a narrow defeat in the national championship game to Alabama. He is 6’2 with 32” arms and ran a 4.34 at the combine. His NFL.com draft profile finishes out as such:We know what Pete Carroll has done with DBs in the past, will he be able to take Green’s speed and turn him into dependable depth at the free safety position, if not more? There’s gonna be plenty of opportunities coming up for the Seahawks to find out.

Steelers receiver Antonio Brown has kept a very low profile in the aftermath of the unflattering report regarding the latest distraction he has created in Pittsburgh. With one exception.49ers tight end George Kittle Jimmie Ward Jersey , apparently aware of the rift currently existing between Brown and the Steelers, tweeted a simple greeting to wideout who currently may be feeling unwanted: “Sup?”Brown responded, tweeting a starry eyed emoji. The gesture is being interpreted, regardless of intent, as Kittle making a pitch for Brown to join the 49ers, and Brown accepting. The biggest impediment (beyond 49ers management actually wanting Brown), continues to be Brown’s contract. Because the Steelers opt for large signing bonuses over guaranteed money beyond the first year Womens Richard Sherman Jersey , and because the Steelers routinely restructure contracts to create cap space, the cap consequences for trading or cutting Brown would exceed $21 million. But if this embattled receiver has also become embittered, the Steelers could be looking at a T.O. 2005 situation, on the other end of the Commonwealth. Which could force them to do something in order to avoid another season filled with even more distractions that trace back to a receiver who has demonstrated in recent months a side far different than the hard-working, always-smiling yardage and touchdown machine. And if Brown somehow ends up in San Francisco this offseason, yes, the 49ers and Steelers are scheduled to face each other in 2019. Now Womens Frank Gore Jersey , get that deal worked out"The San Francisco 49ers today announced they have exercised the fifth-year contract option on Pro Bowl DL DeForest Buckner for the 2020 season. The 49ers originally selected Buckner (6-7, 300) in the first round (7th overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft. Buckner has started in all 47 games he has appeared in throughout his three-year career, tallying 215 tackles, 21.0 sacks, eight passes defensed, three fumble recoveries and one forced fumble. In 2018, he started all 16 games and registered 67 tackles http://www.49erslockerroom.com/authentic-dwight-clark-jersey , a career-high 12.0 sacks, three passes defensed and one fumble recovery, earning his first selection to the Pro Bowl. His sack total ranked tied for eighth in the NFC, tied for 14th in the NFL, were the most by a member of the 49ers in a single season since LB Aldon Smith (19.5 sacks in 2012) and the 5th-most in a single season by a 49ers defender since 2000.He was not only the best player on the team, Buckner is one of the best young defenders in the NFL. Hopefully this means the team is inching closer to working out a long-term deal.

As a result, a couple assistants to the assistants lost their jobs. Now Ron Rivera is more involved and stuff. We talk about all the coaching staff drama and why we don’t like it. On the football side of things we talk about how the Panthers lost to the Buccaneers and what it means going into this weekend’s tilt against the Browns. There will be wind. And it will be cold. The defense will hopefully be better now that Ron Rivera is the de facto defensive coordinator, but maybe not. We talk about the Browns new look offense and where they match up well against the Panthers. These aren’t your older siblings’ Browns, they’re not a total train wreck. Download an subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Google Podcasts. It wasn’t the Finals, they weren’t playing Utah Youth Eric Reid Jersey , and he didn’t have the flu.But when Panthers coach Ron Rivera looked at at Cam Newton‘s comeback against the Eagles Sunday, he saw something familiar.鈥淗e’ll come up and say, 鈥楥oach, put it in my hands, Coach. Trust me,鈥欌€?Rivera said, via Bill Voth of the team’s official website. 鈥淚t goes back to a little something I learned from Michael Jordan when we were in Chicago. Michael used to say Stitched Eric Reid Jersey , 鈥楥ertain guys want the ball when it’s crunch-time. Other guys just don’t seem to come off the picks the way they’re supposed to.鈥?I’ve told that to Cam, and Cam has always wanted the ball.鈥漅ivera was playing for the Bears when Jordan was dominating the NBA, and even though he hasn’t matched that kind of success as an owner in Charlotte, Jordan still casts a long shadow around town. The reality is, Newton was playing quite poorly through three quarters, but those problems were long forgotten after he led them back from a 17-0 deficit to win. It tied the largest comeback in Panthers franchise history, and according to Pro Football Reference Youth Matt Paradis Jersey , it was his 15th fourth-quarter comeback, which puts him ahead of a guy who gets more credit for it (Aaron Rodgers, 14).鈥淗e gets overlooked because of his style of play. It’s not a prolific style,鈥?Rivera said. 鈥淗e runs the ball extremely well. He’s not a pure, pure pocket passer, although there are elements of his game where he plays very well from the pocket. He’s good on the move. But again, I think the success he has in the fourth quarter with the comebacks is a lot about his desire wanting to win.鈥漁f course Stitched Matt Paradis Jersey , even if you combined Newton and Rodgers, they’re still five rings behind Jordan, so everything’s relative.

The Ravens were the only AFC North team who failed to pick up a victory in Week 5 Youth Morgan Cox Jersey , falling to the Browns in a low-scoring, defensive affair. Neither team played particularily well, but Cleveland survived in overtime to win 12-9. Baltimore still possesses second place in the division, but now sits a game behind the Bengals at 3-2. Cincinnati overcame a slow start to defeat the Dolphins at home, 27-17. The Bengals are now 4-1 on the season. The Steelers demise was greatly exaggerated. Pittsburgh bounced back after an ugly loss to Baltimore, rolling the explosive Atlanta Falcons at home. Both the Steelers and Browns improved to 2-2-1, and remain tied for third in the division. Ravens fall to Browns: 9-12 Offense falls back to earth Joe Flacco and the Ravens offense could not replicate their success through the first four weeks of the season. In a tough road environment in Cleveland, Baltimore was stifled by the Browns defense. The final numbers don’t look awful, as the Ravens managed to gain 410 total yards and 25 first downs. However, they fail to tell the whole story. Baltimore failed to capitalize on good field position and missed several opportunities. The Ravens averaged 4.9 yards per play on Sunday and converted just 4/16 third down attempts. They failed to find the endzone, as well Stitched Matt Judon Jersey , and it was an overall ugly offensive showing after a big Week 4 victory. Unbalanced attack Despite a close-knit contest, the Ravens opted to go pass-heavy against the Browns and it proved to be ineffective. The running game was effective early on, lead by Alex Collins. Collins picked up 42 yards on his first four carries and looked elusive. It wasn’t easy sledding after that, but both Collins and Javorius Allen averaged over 4.0 YPC on the day. Flacco threw the ball a whopping a 56 times, completing just over 50% of his passes. He averaged 5.3 yards per throw and threw a costly interception in the red zone. He wasn’t helped by three dropped passes, but it was a poor performance. Browns defeat Ravens: 12-9Defense comes up big After being lit up by Derek Carr and the Oakland Raiders offense to the tune of 45 points, the Browns defense bounced back in a big way. Behind a raucous, energetic home crowd, Cleveland limited the Ravens to just three field goals. The Ravens offense had performed well entering the contest, ranking top-ten in total yards and passing offense. However, they were not able to find success against the Browns. Linebackers Jamie Collins Sr. and Christian Kirksey were all over the field Youth Matt Judon Jersey , tying for he team-lead with 12 tackles a piece. Rookie cornerback Denzel Ward also continues to impress, recording an interception and three pass deflections. Baker Mayfield gets the job done Against one of the top-ranked defenses in the NFL, Baker Mayfield held his own and made some key throws down the stretch. It was a far better performance than the four-turnover outing he registered in Week 4. Mayfield threw an interception on the Browns opening drive, but settled in nicely as the game went along. The offensive line allowed five sacks and the running game could not get much going, but Baker still managed to be effective. It wasn’t the prettiest performance, but Mayfield finished with 342 yards, one touchdown and a quarterback rating of 81.7. He did enough to put the Browns in a position to earn a key victory, and is now 1-1 as a starter. Steelers defeat Falcons: 41-17 Brown, Connor lead the way Perhaps learning of Le’Veon Bell’s inevitable return motivated James Connor. After failing to get much going over the past three weeks, Connor was a key catalyst in the Steelers Week 5 victory. Connor finished with 185 scrimmage yards and two rushing touchdowns. Antonio Brown, whose been usually quiet for his standards this season Stitched Michael Pierce Jersey , finally had a breakthrough performance. Brown recorded six receptions for 101 yards and two touchdowns, hooking up with Ben Roethlisbeger on a 47-yard scoring play. These two remain arguably the best QB-WR duo in the league. Defense bounces back The Steelers defense has not been good this season, ranking near the bottom of the league in almost every major statistical category. In Week 5, however, they managed to slow down one of the most explosive offenses in the league.Atlanta found some success through the air, but were completely stifled on the ground. The Falcons, despite getting Devonta Freeman back from injury, rushed for just 62 yards on 19 carries. T.J. Watt had an outstanding performance, recording eight tackles and three sacks. Julio Jones was limited to just five catches and 62 yards, and Calvin Ridley caught 4 passes for 38 yards. Atlanta scored only seven points in the second half. Bengals defeat Dolphins: 27-17Cincy overcomes big deficit After a huge road win against Atlanta, the Bengals returned home to a favorable matchup against the Dolphins. For much of this game Youth Michael Pierce Jersey , however, it was Miami who looked like the superior football team. The Bengals offense came out flat and were held scoreless in the first half. Miami held a 17-3 lead entering the fourth quarter, but squandered any chance of victory with turnovers and poor execution. Cincinnati scored a whopping 24 points in the fourth quarter and held on to earn a ten-point victory. A.J. Green led the way with another productive outing, catching six passes for 112 receiving yards. Joe Mixon returns After missing the past two games with a knee injury, second-year running back Joe Mixon returned on Sunday and provided a big boost for the Bengals offense. Mixon picked up where he left off, continuing his impressive start to the season. He grinded out 93 yards on 22 carries, and corralled an acrobatic 18-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter. If Mixon can continue to run the ball effectively, the Bengals are a balanced, dangerous offensive unit. They’ll need him to do so next week, as a key divisional showdown with the Steelers awaits. The Ravens aren’t running what you’d call a traditional offense. But within the narrow constraints of what they’re trying to do, they’re doing it well enough.Rookie quarterback Lamar Jackson has picked it up a bit in the second quarter Stitched James Hurst Jersey , and the Ravens have taken a 10-9 lead on the Buccaneers.Jackson is 11-of-16 passing for 102 yards and a touchdown, taking few chances but not making mistakes either. He’s added a team-high 40 rushing yards on seven carries. While the passing game isn’t much to look at, he did move them downfield quickly for a field goal just before the end of the half, the kind of drive he needs to deliver while the Ravens are playing good defense. It’s not flashy, but it’s effective, as the Ravens have been lately as they push for a playoff berth (if not the division title).

Veteran guard Andy Levitre is headed for free agency next month Stitched Ty Sambrailo Jersey , but he said that finding a home for the 2019 season isn’t the first thing on his mind right now.Levitre made an appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio and said that it is “pretty exciting” to be headed toward free agency, but making a full recovery from the torn triceps that led the Falcons to put him on injured reserve in September remains his primary focus right now.鈥淗aving that same injury the second time, I just want to ensure that my triceps is ready to go,鈥?Levitre said. 鈥淩ight now my focus is just going to rehab and getting back to one-hundred percent healthy.鈥滾evitre was traded to Atlanta in 2015 in a move he said “worked out amazing for me,” but moving on may be the likeliest outcome. The Falcons have talked about their desire to upgrade their offensive line Youth Ty Sambrailo Jersey , which may mean Levitre and fellow free agents Ben Garland and Zane Beadles are not part of the future in Atlanta. The Falcons are apparently going to use free agency to remake their guard corps."Apparently the Falcons are intent on re-making their offensive line in free agency, because we just got our second report of the team gearing up to sign a big ol’ guard to the roster. The team confirmed the move on Tuesday after the official start of free agency. This time, it’s James Carpenter, the 321 pound former Jet and Seahawk. The 29 year-old Augusta native has 97 NFL starters under his belt for those two teams, primarily at left guard. He started 10 games a year ago Stitched Justin Bethel Jersey , but 48 of a possible 48 games from 2015-2017, and graded out on the low end of average for the Jets last year per Pro Football Focus. That’s generally been the verdict on Carpenter as a guard throughout his career, but he’s durable and (stop me if you’re sensing an offseason theme) a solid run blocker. This move would seem to suggest that Jamon Brown, whose imminent signing is being reported in multiple places, would slot in as the team’s right guard. He had played there for the Giants and Rams over the last two seasons Youth Justin Bethel Jersey , which would leave Carpenter at left guard. That means Brandon Fusco could be out, Wes Schweitzer may be entering his last year as depth for this football team, and the Falcons may take a hard look at tackle in the draft as others have reported. The team’s Kyle Shanahan-Steve Sarkisian offensive line may soon be unrecognizable outside of Alex Mack (who is nearing the end of his career) and Jake Matthews (who is still a building block). While my initial reaction to the Brown signing was to speculate that major blocking scheme changes would be in the offing, it’s way too early to say that yet. The Falcons, at the very least Stitched Jack Crawford Jersey , wanted some beef. Neither Brown or Carpenter looks like the kind of elite guard we’d hoped the Falcons would sign this offseason, but hopefully they can at least be good enough to justify the investments.

PHOENIX — The Arizona Cardinals have hired former Texas Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury Black David Johnson Jersey , a move aimed at providing guidance for young quarterback Josh Rosen and resuscitating the worst offense in the NFL.The Cardinals announced the hiring Tuesday after a long interview earlier in the day, saying Kingsbury had agreed to terms on a four-year contract with a team option for a fifth. He was to be introduced at a news conference at the team’s training facility in Tempe on Wednesday.Kingsbury was fired after going 35-40 in six seasons at Texas Tech, but his teams were known for their high-scoring performances. His prize pupil in those days was current Kansas City Chiefs All-Pro quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Tuesday’s hiring came barely a month after Kingsbury was hired as offensive coordinator at USC.Kingsbury, also a former offensive coordinator at Texas A&M where he worked with Johnny Manziel, replaces Steve Wilks, who was fired after going an NFL-worst 3-13 in his one season in Arizona. That means Kingsbury will take over a team with the No. 1 overall draft pick, along with a bevy of other picks and lots of salary cap space. After a one-year experiment with a defense-oriented coach in Wilks, Cardinals president Michael Bidwill acknowledged he got that hire wrong and vowed to get this one right. The Cardinals hope the hire can match the magic that happened when Sean McVay was hired by the Los Angeles Rams.Arizona’s move is back to an offense-centered coach, a philosophy that worked well in the previous hire of Bruce Arians David Johnson Jersey 2019 , who won 50 games in five seasons before retiring after the 2017 season. And Bidwill’s latest choice is a risk, given that the 39-year-old Kingsbury has no NFL coaching experience and no record of success in terms of wins and losses at the college level. He does, however, bring unquestioned knowledge of successful offenses and in working with young quarterbacks. Under Kingsbury’s tutelage, both Case Keenum and Mahomes led the nation in passing as college quarterbacks.“Yeah, I think he can be a great NFL coach,” Mahomes said Tuesday before the hiring was announced. “He has the work ethic. He has the passion for the game. I know that he loves the sport. So I know he’ll be able to relate to quarterbacks. He would put in the work and now it’s just about him finding where he needs to be at.”Kingsbury was let go after six seasons at Texas Tech and joined the USC staff as offensive coordinator on Dec. 5. His quick departure will leave the Trojans scrambling for a replacement.Kingsbury’s challenge now will be to build a staff. He particularly needs a strong coordinator for a defense that had its share of troubles last year trying to switch from a 3-4 to 4-3 scheme. The new coach inherits a team that finished last in the NFL in all major offensive categories last year. Rosen, who as a rookie took over as starter four games into the season, had an up-and-down year with no significant improvement.Playing behind a makeshift offensive line decimated by injuries Black Chandler Jones Jersey , he wound up last among quarterbacks who played regularly, completing 55 percent of his passes for 2,278 yards and 11 touchdowns with 14 intercepts and a 66.7 quarterback rating.Rosen, who was picked 10th overall in last year’s draft, is probably the No. 1 reason Kingsbury got the job.The Cardinals’ record last year was their worst in 18 years and matched the worst since the franchise moved to the desert from St. Louis in 1988. The Cardinals’ website announcement of Kliff Kingsbury’s hiring originally came with a mention that “Kingsbury is friends with Rams coach Sean McVay.” Indeed, every team in this hiring cycle seemed to be in search of the next McVay.The Bengals appear on the verge of hiring Rams quarterbacks coach Zac Taylor, which is as close to McVay as a team can get. The Packers hired Matt LaFleur, who was McVay’s offensive coordinator in 2017.McVay said earlier this week he was “too young,” at 32 Chandler Jones Jersey 2019 , to have a coaching tree. But it appears anyone calling himself a FOM — Friend of McVay — had a better shot at getting a head coaching opportunity this year.“I think, really, what it is more than anything else is, it’s a reflection of our organizational success over the last couple years,” McVay told reporters in Los Angeles on Thursday. “I think it’s certainly flattering. It’s extremely humbling to even be mentioned in that. But I know this: The reason that people are saying those types of things is because the Rams have had success. I know the Rams are having success because we’ve got great players. We’ve got a great coaching staff, and we’ve got a lot of people that are working in the same direction. I think that’s key for continuity in anything that you do. But it certainly is very flattering, and it’s a reflection of the Rams鈥?success.”

A trend emerged over the first three games of the Green Bay Packers’ 2018 season. While the overall numbers painted the picture of a team still largely unable to halt opponents with regularity Darnell Savage Jersey Mens , a closer look revealed that the Green Bay defense thrived on third down with 4 or more yards to go. Forcing those situations proved to be the challenge at times, but once there new defensive coordinator Mike Pettine could dial up exotic blitzes and consistently short-circuit drives.Against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, Pettine and his defense put on a show on those third-down situations. The Packers forced third-and-4 or longer an impressive 13 times, eight of which resulted in a stop. That third-down defensive success largely won the game for Green Bay and, given the context of the previous three weeks, suggests meaningful progress for the unit after just one quarter of the season. But those numbers don’t fully illustrate the Packers’ third-down dominance. All three of the Bills’ turnovers -- two interceptions and a fumble loss -- came on third down and at least 4 yards to go. Pettine’s exotic blitzes, particularly his affinity for rushing defensive backs, turned the defense into a play-making unit. And perhaps that explains why Aaron Rodgers referred to the defensive performance as “championship” level during his post-game press conference. During the Packers’ best defensive seasons under previous coordinator Dom Capers, the group finished near the top of the league in turnovers. Those takeaways hadn’t totally evaporated in Green Bay over the past few years Youth Darnell Savage Jersey , but that production needs to improve in order to take the pressure off an offense that remains a work in progress. Forcing more long third downs seems like a reliable way to up those numbers.Ultimately, the Bills present one of the weaker challenges on Green Bay’s schedule, and that factors into any discussion of Sunday’s shutout. At the same time, a good defense should give up few if any points to an offense led by rookie quarterback Josh Allen and arguably the worst collection of offensive talent in the league, and the Packers pulled it off with minimal mistakes.Aaron Jones shows off more than just his running abilityMidway through Aaron Jones’ rookie season, it became clear that the UTEP product had the skills and physical tools to lead the Packers’ ground attack. Injuries derailed that effort, but even so, it seemed Jones would take over the backfield during his second season.Despite missing the first two games of 2018 with a suspension, Jones has once again emerged as a dangerous part of the Packers offense. In his season debut Jamaal Williams Jersey , he led the team with 42 rushing yards on just six carries. Jones built upon that start with an 11-carry, 65-yard performance against the Bills, which also featured his first touchdown of the year. Already, he has moved ahead of Ty Montgomery in rushing yards on the year. At some point over the next week or so, Jones should eclipse Jamaal Williams as well.Since he entered the league, pass blocking has proven to be the biggest obstacle standing between Jones and a larger role. He finished third among the Packers’ running backs in snaps during Week 3, and he remained in a timeshare with Williams and Montgomery seven days later despite far superior production. However, the existing split could change in the near future. Against Buffalo, Jones showcased improved pass protection and willingness to take on difficult blocking assignments. The best demonstration came on third-and-1 with 8:26 remaining in regulation. With Rodgers’ back turned to the defense during a play fake White Darnell Savage Jersey , the second-year running back came up and de-cleated defensive end Trent Murphy, ensuring the necessary time for the play to develop. Such a “wow” moment would have seemed inconceivable a year ago, but Jones appears to have made a concerted effort to develop that part of his game.Blocks like that could encourage the coaches to increase Jones playing time in the future. He might never reach Williams’ proficiency as a pass protector, but Jones only needs to earn the trust of Rodgers and the staff to further tilt the backfield rotation in his favor.Aaron Rodgers’ wheels returnFrom the moment Rodgers returned from his Week 1 knee injury, it became evident that he lacked the mobility to extend plays and punish defenses with his legs. Though Rodgers did scramble at times against the Minnesota Vikings and Washington over the past two weeks, such plays made up a smaller percentage of his plays than usual.Though Rodgers’ knee probably remains significantly below 100 percent healthy, he looked more comfortable and mobile against the Bills Sunday than at any time since the injury. The veteran quarterback scrambled five times for 31 yards, including a 15-yard sideline scamper that set up a field goal just before halftime. Just as importantly, Rodgers looked fluid and comfortable moving around in the pocket Kenny Clark Jersey , working outside the play design when necessary. Those developments, combined with the fact Rodgers’ practice workload increased this past week, suggest that the most dangerous version of the Packers’ quarterback could return soon barring a setback. The next two weeks feature matchups with the Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers, two teams with middling-at-best pass rushes, followed by Green Bay’s bye. If Rodgers can safely navigate that stretch, he could look fully recovered in time for the all-important Week 8 tilt with the currently undefeated Los Angeles Rams. If you can’t beat the Cardinals at home, you can’t make the playoffs. And you can’t keep your job. That’s likely the lesson for Mike McCarthy and the Packers today after an ugly 20-17 home loss to Arizona.Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was not particularly effective, and Cardinals quarterback Josh Rosen did just enough to win. In the end, the Cardinals hit a late field goal to take the lead Ka'dar Hollman Green Bay Packers Jersey , and Mason Crosby missed his field goal attempt as time expired. Is it all McCarthy’s fault? No. And McCarthy may actually be learning from his mistakes: After taking a great deal of criticism for conservative fourth-down playcalling, he went for it on fourth down on the play on which the Packers scored their first touchdown. But the fact is, McCarthy simply hasn’t gotten the job done this year.At 4-7-1, the Packers have no realistic path to the playoffs. And if McCarthy can’t make the playoffs, he likely can’t save his job.As for the Cardinals, it was their most impressive win of the season. Rosen appears to be making progress, and they improved to 3-9.But the story of this game was less about what Arizona did than about what Green Bay didn’t do. They didn’t do enough to save their coach’s job.

The Seattle Seahawks were the “DVOA Champions” from 2012 to 2015 Shaquem Griffin Jersey , a remarkable feat if you actually care about DVOA. Which most of us here at Field Gulls have and still do for years, and not just when they’re in first place. The Seahawks slipped to 11th in 2016 and 14th in 2017, partly due to shortcomings on offense, but also thanks to injuries and inconsistencies on defense that made them much more average than their previously dominant days. The “bad” news is that Seattle didn’t do much better in 2018 — they finish the season ranked 12th overall — but the good news is that they did so in the season after parting ways with so many players thought to be key to their success. We don’t need to run through that list of names once again, you know it already, but the fact that the Seahawks are 10-6 and back in the playoffs, as well as their number 12 ranking in DVOA, says quite a bit about the job done by Pete Carroll and John Schneider to keep the franchise competitive while they away for more growth and development from first and second-year starters. Not that work isn’t left to be done in all three phases of the game.Seattle ranked ninth on offense, 14th on defense, and 24th on special teams. A big reason for their low ranking on special teams came way of their punting debacle against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 17, as Michael Dickson had two kicks blocked, but the issues of course run deeper than that. The traditional stats tell one story and DVOA is only meant to tell another. Neither is good enough on its own, both are more powerful when used together, and of course with non-stat-driven devices.Offensively, the Seahawks ranked sixth in passing and seventh in rushing. This ranking is much more telling of Russell Wilson’s highly efficient season than Seattle’s ranking of 27th in yards and 32nd in attempts, which means nothing other than a story about Brian Schottenheimer and Carroll’s game plan for the offense. Wilson set a franchise record for touchdowns (35) while attempting just 427 passes. They didn’t ask him to throw it 600 times and they didn’t want to take many shots other than the ones that would help them gain first downs and touchdowns. Wilson finished the season 11th in DYAR and 10th in DVOA.Meanwhile, Tyler Lockett finished with the highest DVOA for a receiver ever. He also edged out DeAndre Hopkins and Michael Thomas for the 2018 crown at DYAR. The second-highest DVOA recorded this season by a WR, though he didn’t have enough targets to qualify Tre Flowers Jersey , was the 58% by Seattle receiver Jaron Brown. It doesn’t tell you that they were the best receivers, just that targets to them by Wilson were extremely good at gaining important first downs and touchdowns. En total those two players were targeted 89 times and scored 15 touchdowns with 46 first downs. On the ground, the Seahawks were second in attempts and first in rushing yards, plus fifth in yards per carry. Chris Carson had 1,151 yards and nine touchdowns. All three lead backs averaged at least 4.6 yards per carry, plus 5.6 for Wilson. Carson was 13th in DYAR and 17th in DVOA, with 51% success rate, which ranked 15th among qualified backs. For the record, that was still a better success rate than Ezekiel Elliott, Phillip Lindsay, Derrick Henry, and Joe Mixon. This is a vast improvement from 2017, when Eddie Lacy and Thomas Rawls finished as the two of the three worst-rated backs in the entire NFL by DVOA, and two of the five worst by DYAR despite getting less than 100 carries each. Another important aspect is strength of schedule, and FootballOutsiders has Seattle’s offense as facing basically a league-average schedule of defenses. By contrast, the New Orleans Saints finished with the second-easiest. (Yes, it is opponent adjusted, otherwise advanced stats like these ... wouldn’t really exist?)Defensively Barkevious Mingo Jersey , the team was average, ranking 14th by DVOA and 19th by weighted DVOA as they struggled more without free safety Earl Thomas as the year went on. They were 13th against the pass and 17th against the run. Their strength of schedule also ranked 16th. In the passing game, the Seahawks were ranked just 25th against number one receivers and 20th against number two receivers, while doing better against all other receivers, tight ends, and backs. They did their best pass defense up the middle, which is where I hear Bobby Wagner lives.Traditional stats back this up mostly, as Seattle ranked 11th in points allowed and 16th in yards allowed. They were 17th in net yards per pass attempt allowed, but 30th in yards per carry allowed. Part of that struggle can probably be attributed to the issues at outside linebacker with injuries to K.J. Wright and Mychal Kendricks, though other factors certainly come into play. Wright is now healthy and looks to start against the Cowboys in the wild card round.Despite a Pro Bowl season by Michael Dickson, the Seahawks finished below average in the punting game thanks to Sunday’s performance against Arizona. The only place they were decent by the end of the year’s total: kickoff returns, which almost don’t matter anymore thanks to the new kickoff rules. Some are calling for a chance at special teams coordinator with Brian Schneider. Carroll made moves last year with his coaches, will he do the same in 2019? The Seattle Seahawks have a hole in their secondary, created by Justin Coleman’s departure to Detroit. The Lions made Coleman the highest paid slot corner in the league at the start of free agency,..."The Seattle Seahawks have a hole in their secondary, created by Justin Coleman’s departure to Detroit. The Lions made Coleman the highest paid slot corner in the league at the start of free agency, and Seattle is yet to make a corresponding move. Akeem King, Jeremy Boykins and Kalan Reed represent in-house candidates Sweezy Jersey , but all would require an element of risk. On Tuesday, the Seahawks reportedly brought in a known quantity at nickel corner, with Jamar Taylor visiting the team. A product of Boise State, Taylor was selected in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Dolphins. In 2016, a trade sent Taylor to the Browns, where he started and played well, earning a three-year, $16.5M extension at the end of the 2016 season. Following the 2017 season, Taylor was again traded, this time to the Cardinals. Arizona released Taylor part of the way through the 2018 season and ended the year with the Broncos, where he played four games. Though Taylor’s career has stalled recently, he’s a quality slot corner who could presumably step in and play reliable football for Seattle. Though the choices are slim this time of year, Taylor would be an outlier in the Seahawks’ history of nickel corners. Though Taylor would be an odd departure from the Seahawks’ usual mold at the position, it’s not the strangest news from Tuesday. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Taylor Mays is flying to Seattle to work out for the team. Mays, the former USC Trojan, last played in the NFL in 2015.

Wide receiver Demaryius Thomas is headed from Denver to Houston along with a seventh-round pick in a deal that will send a fourth-round pick and a seventh-round pick back to the Broncos. There hasn’t been a formal announcement of the deal yet Kahale Warring Houston Texans Jersey , but Broncos General Manager John Elway has acknowledged that Thomas is done with the team after more than eight full seasons with the club. Elway said that Thomas, who is second in many franchise receiving categories behind Rod Smith, will be in the team’s Ring of Honor someday, but that they wanted to look at younger players in the second half of this season.“With the youth we have at receiver Kahale Warring Jersey 2019 , we wanted to get them on the field and Demaryius goes to a team that wanted him,” Elway said, via Mike Klis of KUSA. “It was best for both sides. We weren’t going to do this unless we got value. We weren’t taking less than a fourth.”The leader of that group of young receivers is 2018 second-round pick Courtland Sutton and he should see the biggest spike in playing time with Thomas off of the depth chart. Sutton has 17 catches for 324 yards and two touchdowns so far this season.Jalen Ramsey Says Deshaun Watson Will Be The NFL MVP In Short Order The ego has no bounds. Some people’s confidence in themselves and their ability travels out into infinity. Jalen Ramsey is one of those people. And rightly so, as after being in the NFL for just two years Color Rush Kahale Warring Jersey , playing a position that takes two years to get the hang of, Ramsey has already firmly planted himself as a top five cornerback in the game. Yesterday, a braggadocios interview between Ramsey and GQ was released. In it, Ramsey did everything he could do to hurt people’s feelings. Joe Flacco? Trash. Josh Allen? Trash. Blake Bortles? Does what he needs to do. Ramsey is rarely impressed by anyone on the football field. Yet the Texans’ young franchise quarterback has drawn his attention. When asked about Jimmy Garoppolo Cheap Kahale Warring Jersey , Ramsey found a way to talk about Watson and Carson Wentz instead.Ramsey must not have heard about Watson’s unsustainable touchdown rate. The Texans and Jaguars play each other for the first time on October 21st during Week 7. Take a yellow marker to your calendar, folks. We all need things to look forward to. This is one of those things.

The Titans get a week to rest Nate Palmer Jersey , which means Titans fans can have fun laughing at the expense of other teams for a change. But if you don’t want to do that, I’ve complied a list of intriguing games to watch if you’re fortunate enough to have NFL Red Zone or Gamepass, because not all of them are available at once. So let’s take a look at the best matchups from Week 8 as the Titans get a bye.Eagles-JaguarsThese have been the two disappointing teams of 2018, and coincidentally both teams lost to the Titans. This London matchup features an Eagles team with strong quarterback play from Carson Wentz but a terrible offensive line and secondary and a Jaguars team with Blake Bortles at quarterback and a loaded defense that is poorly coached.Bortles usually saves his best games for England, but has he ever earned anyone’s trust at quarterback? I don’t think so. With Leonard Fournette out (again) we’ll get to see Carlos Hyde’s debut as a Jaguar, but I’m not to thrilled as he’s going up against a great defensive line, albeit one that lost Derek Barnett for the season.Since his return to the Eagles Alshon Jeffery has been balling, as has Zach Ertz, but with a Jaguars pass rush led by studs such as Yannick Ngakoue (having potentially a career year), it’s going to be tough for a struggling Eagles offensive line to keep up. This is played on a neutral site, but who knows, perhaps Bortles actually plays like an NFL quarterback this week.I guess I’ll take the Eagles, but I won’t be surprised if the Jaguars win, because it’s been that kind of year.Seahawks-LionsNone of us thought the Seahawks would make it to second place in the NFC West, yet here they are at that after the 49ers were hit by injuries and had their defense consistently lay eggs, as they have the least amount of takeaways in the league with three. After a horrendous start to the season the Lions are suddenly in the mix in the NFC North thanks to an excellent trio of wide receivers, the emergence of rookie running back Kerryon Johnson and an offensive line that’s become one of the best on the season. The Lions trading for Damon “Snacks” Harrison was astute, as they traded a fifth-rounder for an elite run stopper going up against a team that always wants to establish the run. Incredibly, the Seahawks offensive line, while still bad, has not been overwhelmingly bad like it has been in previous years, and on defense Frank Clark is putting up the best season of his career in a contract year.So Seattle’s defense has been decent even in the aftermath of breaking up the Legion of Boom, and they face a test in Detroit’s offense. Matthew Stafford, after an ugly first two games, has put together a solid stretch of play, and Kenny Golladay, Golden Tate and Marvin Jones provide an outrageously talented and diverse wide receiving trio.Russell Wilson has been inconsistent this season, but still has many tricks up his sleeve and will be a reason why Seattle should be competitive in this one. Still, I think Detroit takes this one.Ravens-PanthersTitans fans got to witness first hand how incredible the Ravens defense is in that week 6 home shut out. The offense, with a revamped receiving corps and an actually inspired Joe Flacco, has found new life. On the flip side, the Panthers probably aren’t a good team, but they’re “good” in that they have a great quarterback with a good scheme and an offensive line that isn’t killing him for a change. They’ve stumbled their way into close games as a result. Both teams need a win to stay in their respective divisional races, but Carolina clearly needs it more since the red hot Saints offense plays in the NFC South. Their receiving corps has improved but isn’t outstanding DaQuan Jones Jersey , and outside from afew standout guys like Luke Kuechly and Donte Jackson the defense isn’t that scary. Cam Newton has been playing excellent as of late, though, so the Panthers have a shot. The issues on offense and defense for Carolinawould explain why the Ravens are road favorites. While the defense doesn’t include “big” names, there’s quality and depth at practically every position. On offense, John Brown has been a steal on a 1-year, $5 million contract, and with Flacco playing like he cares the offense is anchored less than it was in the past.So I’d probably have Baltimore winning, but this should be a fun matchup.Packers-RamsThis essentially is an injured Aaron Rodgers vs the Rams. Despite a largely ineffective defense and worse offensive line, the Packers have three wins on the season in a tight NFC North race. The Rams are 7-0 thanks to star players like Jared Goff, Todd Gurley, Robert Woods, Brandin Cooks, the offensive line, and Aaron Donald. There’s not much to say about this other than Rodgers being with the Packers will make this fun. It’ll be interesting to see what Donald does against the Packers offensive line, since he had four sacks, six tackles for a loss and five quarterback hits last week against the 49ers.But yeah I’ll take the Rams here. But having Rodgers in it is always fun, right?Saints-VikingsNow for the game of the week. Despite an awful defense, the Saints are 5-1 on the year, with Drew Brees and company lighting it up on offense. After losing their way for a bit after a loss to the Bills, the Vikings defense is back, and now they get Everson Griffen back in time for Sunday’s matchup.New quarterback Kirk Cousins is playing the best football of his career. While some bone headed mistakes rear their ugly head in from time to time, his play under pressure has taken a big step up, and his chemistry with arguably the best wide receiver in football in Adam Thielen has been much greater than I had expected. Drew Brees is an MVP candidate right now, and his accuracy and consistency are as sharp as usual. With a loaded cast of skill players in Michael Thomas, Tre-Quan Smith, Taysom Hill, Alvin Kamara, Mark Ingram, and perhaps the best offensive line in the league, it’s been easy for Sean Payton to provide an intense, highly entertaining scheme. They’ll need it against a Minnesota defense that’s found their groove once again and is getting one of the best pass rushers in football back.Oh yeah, and it’s a battle between the two teams involved in the Minneapolis Miracle. Anyway, the Vikings offensive line has returned to being brutal, but so has the Saints defense Wesley Woodyard Jersey , so something has to give. I might take the Vikings to win this one. Looking forward to it. The NC State receiving prospect would offer a nice compliment to Corey Davis and Adam Humphries."WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections Tennessee Titans Podcast2019 Titans WR Prospects: Kelvin HarmonNew,36commentsThe NC State receiving prospect would offer a nice compliment to Corey Davis and Adam Humphries.CDTShareTweetShareShare2019 Titans WR Prospects: Kelvin HarmonMark Konezny-USA TODAY SportsOnce again I’m writing on a wide receiving prospect here at Music City Miracles. Please be assured that I have 100% creative control over what I write on so I am not forced to write on this from the management. For some reason I’m just on a marathon run through receiving prospects since it’s something the Titans need to improve. This time we’re looking at Liberian born receiver Kelvin Harmon, from NC State. Harmon, 22,is 6’3 and 214 lb, and will be 23 on December 15th. In his final season at NC State he caught 81 passes (tied for 12th in FBS play) for 1,186 yards (10th most), seven touchdowns and 14.6 yards per catch. For his efforts he was named First Team All-ACC.Harmon hasn’t received nearly as much draft hype as fellow WR classmates like D.K. Metcalf or Hakeem Butler, but I was still curious enough to watch him and see what I could take away from his tape. With that in mind, below are my thoughts on the NC State prospect.NCAAFAs a route runner, Harmon appears to be pretty consistent. He doesn’t have the most cutting edge route running material but he does display good all-around technique whenever he’s asked to run a certain route. Here, Harmon runs an excellent fake on his route. His initial movement suggests he’s running a go route and is putting his quarterback in a position to toss him a back shoulder pass. However, at the last moment Harmon digs out and it turns into a comeback route. He makes a nice sliding catch at the sideline, making sure to get at least one foot in bounds in the process.NCAAFNo one will act like zone coverage is as difficult to play against in comparison to man or press, but a strong level of awareness is still needed in order to master it. As a receiver, finding the right patch or spot vs. the zone is crucial to putting yourself in a position where your quarterback can throw to you and find a hole in the defense.Harmon does a great job of finding that safe spot here. As he reaches it, he stops and remains patient just long enough for his quarterback to deliver the ball to him. It’s a subtle but necessary detail in mastering receiving vs. a zone defense, and while this doesn’t go for a lot, Harmon does just enough to reach the first down marker.NCAAFHarmon isn’t the flashiest receiver coming out of the college level, but against press or on contested plays he seems to have little issue creating separation or hauling passes in at the catch point. Watch the push off he gets from his left foot just after this snap. That little move gets him plenty of outside leverage against the corner, even with safety help over the top. And it goes without saying his ball security makes this a clean catch.NCAAFHarmon’s 4.60 40-yard dash at the Combine turned off some people, but on the field he has shown he’s capable of stretching vertically and making plays there. I wouldn’t say his ability there is as strong as someone like Marquise Brown or D.K. Metcalf, but it’s not bad either.NCAAFAnd on occasion Harmon does come up with the flashy 50/50 catch. This one in particular is spectacular, and I love the concentration and angle he uses to come up with this pass. It’s not even a well placed pass either, as it should’ve been thrown to Harmon’s back shoulder, but on the other hand it allowed him to put this play on his highlight reel.I don’t think Kelvin Harmon is a spectacular athlete, but the first player that comes to mind when watching him is Pierre Garçon. Both players are extremely well rounded even if they don’t have the flashiest skill sets we’ll ever see from the receiving position. He has really good technique and should do just fine against zone, man, or press coverage. For the Titans, he’d be a nice compliment to Corey Davis and Adam Humphries if available at #19. Personally, I see him being taken in the late first or second round. He’s not my favorite receiver from this class, but I’d be lying if I said he wouldn’t be a solid addition to the Titans receiving corps.

His status is up in the air right now Derrick Morgan Jersey , but he seems behind where he was after the injury in the first Colts game. This will be a game where Matt LaFleur can earn his money.Terry brought up the point that this would be a good time to see Adoree Jackson on offense for the first time this season. Adoree saw quite a few snaps on offense last season under Mike Mularkey when he played more total snaps than any other player in the league. I would assume we haven’t seen him on offense this season because they wanted to have him focus on defense and keep him fresh for his duties on that side of the ball. They need to give the Colts some looks on offense that they haven’t seen on tape. I do think Blaine Gabbert will play better in this game having a full week to prepare vs. coming in after a Mariota injury, but they are still going to need something to get a spark. Adoree is the perfect guy to provide that. Hand him the ball. Throw him a screen. Heck, take a shot to him down the field. The Titans had a great game plan in week 2 when the Titans were without Mariota, Taylor Lewan, Jack Conklin and Dennis Kelly. Can they pull a similar rabbit out of their hat in this one? That could be the difference between us talking about a playoff game or the draft next week. On Sunday, Patriots coach Bill Belichick didn’t have much to say about the 34-10 loss to the Titans. On Monday, Belichick had a little more to say.Strangely, he had nothing to say about the comments from former Patriots running back Dion Lewis, who had the line of the day — and who also said that physicality will cause the Patriots to fold. (Based on the transcript circulated by the team, Belichick even more strangely wasn’t asked.)As to how the blowout in Nashville happened, it boiled down to the Titans getting a lead (and thus being able to rush the passer) and the Patriots falling behind (and thus not being able to rush the passer).“Quite obviously Brynden Trawick Jersey White , the game situation has a lot to do with that,” Belichick said regarding the inability to place consistent pressure on Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota. “When you’re behind and you’re throwing a lot, like we were yesterday, they were going to get more rush opportunities and get more pressure. When they’re ahead, they can play an offense that is more balanced or maybe even a little more favorable to the run and there were less opportunities, and certainly less predictable opportunities, because of the scoring situation and vice versa. When you’re playing from behind, you don’t have a lot of opportunities to rush the passer. You know, we sacked Mariota on a third down play at the end of the third quarter, somewhere in there, but we didn’t create enough of those situations and didn’t do well enough in what we did. That’s a big part of it is opportunities Womens Logan Ryan Jersey , and we’ve got to do better with the opportunities we have, obviously, however many there are.”The pressure on Patriots quarterback Tom Brady resulted in Brady completing 21 of 41 passes for 254 yards, with a passer rating of 70.6. The lack of pressure on Mariota allowed him to complete 16 of 24 passes for 228 yards and two touchdowns, which translates to a passer rating of 125.0.It was Brady’s worst statistical performance since last December, when his passer rating dipped to 59.5 in a 27-20 loss to the Dolphins.Yes, it would be unwise to write the Patriots off after Sunday’s loss. But the defeat puts a major crimp in their effort to continue a string of first-round byes that dates back to 2010 and AFC title game appearances that dates back to 2011. The Chiefs now have a two-game lead for the No. 1 seed in the conference, the Chargers (if they can jump the Chiefs) are also in position for the top seed, and the Steelers are suddenly in play for the No. 2 seed. We’ve nevertheless seen this movie before. Repeatedly. The Patriots tend to find a way off the mat quickly, on those rare occasions when a lucky punch puts them on the canvas.

The forgotten member of last year's deep tight end class makes his NFL debut Saturday night http://www.buccaneerslockerroom.com/authentic-m.j.-stewart-jersey , and Jake Butt is fired up to show he's just as good as O.J. Howard, Evan Engram and David Njoku.Butt was considered as talented as that trio of first-rounders last year but he slipped all the way to the fifth round, where Denver grabbed him with the 145th overall pick after he tore his right ACL in Michigan's 33-32 loss to Florida State in the Orange Bowl following the 2016 season. He was the eighth tight end taken overall, one spot ahead of Iowa's George Kittle, who caught 43 passes for 515 yards and two TDs in San Francisco. While Butt was missing his rookie season and focusing on getting healthy for 2018, he couldn't help but keep tabs on his fellow rookie tight ends as they piled up 230 catches and 26 touchdowns last season."Some were arguing it was the best tight end class ever. Yeah, I kept up with them," Butt said Thursday. "Obviously, a lot of those guys did some great things. Evan Engram stands out. I got to see him live in our stadium, he was making some big plays. O.J. Howard, I've known him since high school, just an absolute beast. David Njoku, Adam Shaheen, they did well."And now it's my turn to go out there and compete with them and get the right to earn (the title of) who's the best out of that class," Butt said. "Man, that'll be fun. We'll all be pushing each other."The Broncos host the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday night, and Butt will line up with the starters."He'll be with the first group probably for two series and maybe a little bit afterward, but not much more than that," coach Vance Joseph said.Butt can't wait."I'm just ready to go out there and start playing some real football again," said Butt.He acknowledged feeling like a wide-eyed rookie."This will be my first NFL game, so what my class went through last season this is what I'm going through right now. So, just to get in that stadium, in front of our fans, with my team and being out there actually participating, it's going to be a fun time," Butt said.Butt is pain-free and has had a solid training camp so far as veteran Jeff Heuerman sits out with a sore knee. "But it's a whole different beast when you get out there and do it live against another team," Butt said. "So, I want to go out there and continue to be technique sound, work my fundamentals, block well."The Broncos lost their best blocking tight end when Virgil Green signed with the AFC West-rival Los Angeles Chargers this spring, and Butt knows blocking is what's going to keep him on the field and allow him the chance to catch up to the rest of the 2017 tight ends class."We've got some talented receivers on the outside Chris Conte Jersey White , so if you can have a tight end that they can't key on whether it's a run or a pass, that's going to put some pressure on that defense," Butt said. "And if you're able to execute, that could translate into some big plays for our offense."Butt and general manager John Elway were hopeful that Butt would only miss half of his rookie season last year, but it quickly became apparent during the one week he was allowed to practice that he'd be better off waiting until 2018."The hardest part about last year was not knowing," Butt said. "Being on PUP, you're waiting, you're waiting, you're waiting and you don't know if you're going to have to wait longer. But once they shut me down for the year, it just became a focus of let me get as healthy as possible for 2018."Butt was one of several members of the Broncos' 2017 draft class who played very little (DeMarcus Walker, De'Angelo Henderson) or not at all (Chad Kelly, Carlos Henderson) last season. There's been a lot of buzz about this year's loaded draft class . If Butt can return to form, though, he'll give a boost to the 2017 class that's taken heat for its many mistakes and immaturity."I think our story's still being written," Butt said. And he could be the lead author.Notes: Unlike last year, Von Miller will play in the preseason opener. "He's totally healthy, he's had a great camp and we have no reason not to play Von," Joseph said. "Von's in great health and good spirits, so why not?" ... Heuerman, S Su'a Cravens (knee) and OL Menelik Watson (chest) won't play.Bucs at Bears: Reviewing five keys to victory Well, I’ll go ahead and let everyone know, this is not a pretty review. Tampa Bay essentially failed in all five keys to victory that I outlined prior to the baffling blowout loss to Chicago. It was a game where nothing went right. Seriously. Mitchell Trubisky had thrown just nine touchdowns to ten interceptions in his career before he got a chance to play the Buccaneers. Offensively, it wasn’t any better against a Bears defense that pressured Ryan Fitzpatrick and Jameis Winston all game.1. Limiting turnoversA week after turning the ball over four times against Pittsburgh, the Buccaneers lost possession of the ball three more times against Chicago.Fitzpatrick tossed another interception after three against the Steelers while Jameis Winston threw two picks during his 2018 debut. With a defense that is one of the worst in the NFL, Tampa Bay has to take extra care of the football going forward. 2. Slowing down the Chicago pass-rushTampa Bay allowed three sacks a week ago and they surrendered a season-high four sacks against the Bears vaunted pass-rush. It’s been an ugly two weeks for this offensive line after a solid start to the season. Now, it seems like we’re left with more questions than answers. Were the first two weeks a fluke? Or were the last two weeks a fluke? It’s safe to say that this is a puzzle that needs to be solved quickly. 3. Flustering Mitchell TrubiskyConsidering that Trubisky looked like the second coming of Joe Montana on Sunday, Tampa Bay failed here big time. The defense generated just one sack (in the first quarter) and three quarterback hits all day. That allowed Trubisky to stand in the pocket and deliver passes. He finished the game with 364 yards and six touchdowns. How will the defense respond after getting absolutely picked apart by one of the worst quarterbacks on their schedule? 4. Scoring touchdowns in the red zoneAfter a 2/5 performance in the red zone against Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay wasn’t much better against the Bears. The Buccaneers finished 2/3 in the red zone and were forced to settle for a field goal during the first quarter from the Chicago 13-yard line. The touchdown the Bucs scored didn’t come until the fourth quarter when this game was well out of a reach. You have to wonder if this team will take a step forward or stay relatively the same in the red zone with Jameis Winston leading the offense. 5. Finding more balance on offenseThe running game has been a problem for Tampa Bay since week one. The Buccaneers had 112 rushing yards in their season-opening win over the New Orleans Saints. In the three weeks since then, the Bucs have recorded a total of 166 yards on the ground. The offensive line has failed to consistently pave running lanes and the running backs haven’t been great at hitting them either.Tampa Bay ran 18 times for 60 yards (3.3 YPC) against Chicago. They haven’t had a rush longer than 23 yards all season and have scored just one touchdown on the ground, courtesy of Fitzpatrick.

Over the past several days we have been working our way through the 2018 draft picks of the Seattle Seahawks Bobby Wagner Jersey , and to this point have looked at and graded the selections of Rashaad Penny, running back in the first round,Rasheem Green, defensive end taken in the third round, Alex McGough, quarterback chosen in the seventh round, Jacob Martin, defensive end picked in the sixth round andJamarco Jones, tackle selected in the fifth round. That puts us halfway through the process of grading the team’s 2018 draft picks and brings us to where can grade the one player in the draft class who will be playing on an NFL field today, fifth round punter and rookie Pro Bowler Michael Dickson. The selection of Dickson in the draft was a kind of unique situation, in that the Hawks were sitting with the 156th pick with a half dozen teams in front of them when they suddenly traded up with the Denver Broncos to spot 149. In order to move those seven spots, they had to give Denver a seventh rounder, pick 226 overall. Following the draft reports emerged that the Denver War Room erupted into laughter when the Seahawks used the pick on a punter. Now, I have to admit that I was right there with them laughing at the Seahawks, because who trades up to draft a punter? Especially a punter who was singlehandedly responsible for getting his first college football coach fired? We can argue about interpretations of blame for that Longhorns loss until everyone on earth is blue in the face Frank Clark Jersey , but if you can’t punt your team to victory over the Kansas Jayhawks, are you really even a punter? I mean, sure, Dickson finished with an average of 48.2 yards per punt, the second highest in the NFL behind Andy Lee’s 48.6, but it’s not like he’s crushing people on returns like Matt Bosher. In any case, Dickson is set to have his punting skills on display Sunday at the Pro Bowl, where he will be representing the Seahawks as a member of the NFC squad. And just in case you’re wondering, the two selections sent to Denver to get pick 149 and use it to bring Dickson to the Pacific Northwest were used on linebacker Devante Downs and tight end Troy Fumagalli. Fumagalli spent the 2018 season in injured reserve and did not play a single snap for the Broncos, while Downs played sparingly, recording just 125 special teams snaps. Interestingly, Dickson is credited with having played 170 special teams snaps, meaning that he had more snaps in 2018 than Fumagalli and Downs combined. In addition, when the NFL announced the initial Pro Bowl rosters back in December, there were only six rookies who made the cut. In addition to Dickson that list includes:Saquon Barkley Phil Haynes Jersey , running back taken 1.2 by the New York Giants,Denzel Ward, cornerback selected 1.4 by the Cleveland Browns, Quenton Nelson, guard selected 1.6 by the Indianapolis ColtsDerwin James, safety chosen 1.17 by the Los Angeles Chargers,Phillip Lindsay, undrafted free agent running back signed by the Denver Broncos. So, it’s a pretty solid company in which Dickson finds himself at the conclusion of his rookie season, and there is zero doubt that the Seahawks got good value out of the fifth round pick they used to secure his services. Now it simply comes down to how good a value they received. Let’s get to the poll to see. RENTON, Wash. (AP) — When he came out of Alabama, Jarran Reed was regarded as a run-stopping defensive tackle. That was it.Anything else he provided for the Seattle Seahawks was going to be extra.“He was a real dedicated run defender coming out. We did not see him specialize in rushing the passer. He has just emerged through his focus and dedication and hard work he has become a complete player,” Seattle coach Pete Carroll said.On a defensive line where pass rush was a major question entering the season, Seattle has gotten an unexpected boost from its starting defensive tackle. Reed is second on the team with 6½ sacks entering Monday night’s game against Minnesota. But it’s more than just sacks where Reed has provided help to Seattle’s pass rush. Reed leads Seattle in quarterback hits with 17 and had six last week against San Francisco to go along with one sack.Even when he’s not taking the quarterback down, Reed is helping provide the kind of pressure quarterback pressure Seattle’s defense needs.“I think he expects to get to the quarterback more than he used to and he wanted to develop his pass rush game Phil Haynes Seattle Seahawks Jersey ,” Carroll said. “He worked hard at it and I think his mentality to rush the passer is just the best it’s been.”Reed agreed with Carroll’s assessment. Reed said he decided this offseason he would focus on his pass rushing, perhaps realizing the impact he could provide to Seattle’s defense if he could get pressure from the interior. With Michael Bennett and Cliff Avril gone, Seattle lost its two top pass rushers. Frank Clark was the only returning defensive lineman with a track record of having success getting to the quarterback. It’s why the defensive line — and the pass rush specifically — was such a major question for the Seahawks entering the season.Reed’s success has alleviated some of those concerns. He had three total sacks in his career entering the season.“The major emphasis last offseason was to get better at my all-around game, to be more reliable, to be on the field more for the team,” Reed said.Reed said most of his offseason work was done in basic places. He would go to parks or football fields around Atlanta to practice his skills and would work out at a local gym.If there was a sand volleyball court available, he would go there to train. He chose not to go to any of the high-end training facilities for his offseason work, with the exception of spending some time back on campus at Alabama.“I don’t go to all the fancy little other things everybody goes and spends all that money on. I don’t do that,” Reed said. “I just use what the earth has. If it has some grass I can run on that. If it has sand, I can run on that. I lift at a regular gym, for real.”Reed’s challenge this week will be disrupting Minnesota’s passing game. The Vikings have the seventh-best pass offense in the league in yards per game, but use a lot of short passes to make their offense work. That may not allow the same opportunities for Reed to get to the quarterback as a week ago.“He was a great run defender and he came in here and was able to do that, but I think he’s just expanded the scope of his game and it’s obvious,” Carroll said. “He’s been a nice factor.”
